SWEET NORMALCY

When the sun sets this evening, it will mark the conclusion of the Passover festival.

The Missus and I will be festive, for sure: We will be able to eat leavened bready products for the first time in eight days. What’ll it be tonight? Pizza? Chinese? Corn on the cob? Funyuns?

It will not be:
  • Gefilte fish.
  • Matzoh balls.
  • Matzoh brei.
  • Matzoh meal pancakes.
  • Matzoh in any form.
  • Beef brisket.
Much as we love the special dishes we eat this time of year, after a week of dietary restriction, we all feel like going just a little bit nuts. And, as Joel Chandler Harris might have said, “The Tar-Baby is not your friend.” Time to say goodbye to my leetle Not-Friend...for a year, anyway.

Beer. Scotch. Cold cereal. Wontons. Aaahhhhhh.

Hurry sundown!
