The Moon over Marietta.
As I was leaving the house this morning, the sight of the (nearly) full moon in a dark blue sky with wisps of rosy dawn-lit clouds was so striking, I stopped the car and ran back in for my camera. Snappo.
Not as dramatic as the full lunar eclipse we had two nights before, but dramatic nonetheless.
I thought of my Dad, who, whenever he would see the Moon, would exclaim, “There’s that old Cocky Moon!” Still does, in fact.
You wonder where I get my twisted sense of humor from? That’s where. For in Yiddish, Cocky Moon means “Shit on ’im.”
Chip off the old block. Dat’s me.
